Ex-NFL LB Aaron Donkor joins Vienna Vikings

The Vienna Vikings have made the biggest signing of the season so far, reaching an agreement with former NFL linebacker Aaron Donkor. 

Donkor was one of the top pass rushers in ELF's season 2024 with 8.5 sacks, 39 tackles, and 14 tackles for a loss, for the Rhein Fire earning All-Star honors. Vienna Vikings fans know Donkor well as he stood out in the Championship Game last season sacking Vikings quarterback Ben Holmes twice. 

Championship rematch

Now he takes his talents from the Rhein Fire to Vienna, and of course his first game in purple will be against his former team this sunday, as the Vienna Vikings will take on the Rhein FIre in a championship game rematch in Merkur stadium. 

Prior to last season, the German linebacker spent three years in the NFL as part of the NFL IPP program. The former basketball player played for Arkansas State before going pro in the NFL and spending a season in the XFL. The standout pass rusher joins a Vikings defense that looks to take the next step this season, joining pass rusher Lucky Ogbevoen, Thomas Schaffer and several other talented Vikings in the front seven.
