European football on course for expansion: European League of Football announces International Game
With 120 days to go until the 2024 season kicks off, the European League of Football is once again setting new standards by announcing the historic premiere of the ELF International Game (#ELFIG24) for the upcoming season. This unique event will see two ELF teams play a game in a country not yet represented in the league. The exact venue, date and franchises involved in the first ELF International Game will be announced later. With this step, the ELF not only hopes to create an intense sporting experience, but also to continue its internationalization and transport the sport to attractive regions in Europe.
Managing Director Zeljko Karajica emphasizes: "The enthusiasm outside our home market for the European League of Football and the sport is clearly noticeable. Our vision is to present a league with 24 teams throughout Europe. We are making great progress towards this goal."
ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume: "I'm looking forward to being able to give our fans another highlight with the ELF International Game. Even outside the existing markets, it is important for us as the ELF to push not only the league, but also American football."
The fourth ELF season promises not only sport at the highest level, but also a journey through Europe with unforgettable moments. The diversity of the participating nations underlines the growing popularity of American football on the continent. While the Munich Ravens will be playing at the Max-Morlock-Stadium in Nuremberg, the Hamburg Sea Devils (wohninvest Weserstadion, Volksparkstadion, Heinz von Heiden Arena), the Cologne Centurions (Tivoli Aachen) and the Panthers Wrocław (Tarczyński Arena) are other franchises that have found spectacular venues for their home games.
17 teams from nine nations will compete in the 2024 ELF season: Berlin Thunder, Hamburg Sea Devils, Rhein Fire, Frankfurt Galaxy, Cologne Centurions, Stuttgart Surge, Munich Ravens (all from Germany), Paris Musketeers (France), Milano Seamen (Italy), Raiders Tirol, Vienna Vikings (both Austria), Panthers Wrocław (Poland), Madrid Bravos, Barcelona Dragons (both Spain), Prague Lions (Czech Republic), Helvetic Guards (Switzerland) and Fehérvár Enthroners (Hungary). The Championship Game will take place on September 22 in Gelsenkirchen.
