At the end of the 2025 season, Patrick Esume will step down from his role as Commissioner of the European League of Football (ELF). After five intense and formative years, the 51-year-old has made this decision with a view to his other professional commitments as an entrepreneur and NFL expert.
"The ELF would not exist without Patrick Esume. He is a figurehead and has contributed significantly to our league's rapid growth and strength. He deserves our utmost gratitude and respect for his tireless dedication, passion, and belief in this vision. He will always remain a part of the ELF family", emphasizes Zeljko Karajica, Managing Director of the European League of Football.
Esume founded the ELF together with Zeljko Karajica in November 2020, and since then the former player and coach has served in a dual role as partner and Commissioner. The continental football league started with eight teams from three countries, and in the current 2025 season, 16 teams from nine nations are competing.
Esume will make his last appearance as Commissioner of the European League of Football on September 7 at VfB Stuttgart's MHP Arena. ELF officials will take the necessary time and care to find a successor for the Commissioner, a position that is central to the league's structure.
