Enthroners sign ELF All-Time Interception Leader Goran Zec
The Fehérvár Enthroners are upgrading their defense with a big move! For this purpose, they bring in a man who has made a big name for himself in the ELF.
In the upcoming season, Goran Zec will wear the Enthroners jersey. The Serbian already played in the league from 2021 to 2022. Zec put in impressive performances for the Wroclaw Panthers and Stuttgart Surge.
He made the All-Star team in all three of his years. With 13 interceptions, he also leads the European League of Football's all-time list for interceptions. The experienced DB currently has to share the top spot with Omari Williams. Something that Zec would certainly like to change in the future.
"We are thrilled to announce that Goran Zec is joining the team. Widely recognized as the best European safety: and the numbers and his reputation really speaks for itself”, says a statement of the Ethroners."
Zec was actually already retired. Now he is back. “After his time with the Surge, he will now take the field in the colors of the Enthroners. On behalf of Mark Ridgley and the entire team, we can’t wait to start working together!”
Zec also can’t wait to get back on the football field: "I’m grateful for this opportunity and chance to return to the field next season. Can’t wait to meet my new teammates, coaches, fans and everyone in such a great organization!”
In his three years, he played 33 games in which he made 208 tackles, including 16.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also had 18 pass deflections and 13 interceptions, of which two were returned for touchdowns.
After a one-year break, Goran Zec is back in the ELF. If he can build on his strong performances, he could become a real factor. Last season, the Enthroners where league average against the pass. With 10 team interceptions, they were even among the lower average in terms of turnovers. Goran Zec could change that next season.
