Enthroners show progress in tough 2025 season
Felix Pahl

The 2025 season was meant to bring more success for the Fehérvár Enthroners with new homegrown territories, fresh imports, and a new coaching staff. But the Hungarian franchise finished with a 1-11 record. On paper, this looks like another disappointing season, especially after so many changes. Yet, throughout the year, the team showed visible progress. Toward the end of the season, they became harder to beat, challenged opponents, and finally celebrated a 34:31 win in Week 13 - a moment that clearly meant a lot to the players.
Mid-season signings bring new energy
A big part of the Enthroners’ improvement was the growing team chemistry and the addition of key mid-season signings. Players like Jon Cole and Gavin Potter made an immediate impact. Both contributed strong stats and inspired those around them.
Cole especially stood out. In just nine games, he became the league’s third-best receiver in terms of yards, scored 12 touchdowns, and ranked fifth among returners. His performances earned him the Comeback Player of the Year award. Against the Berlin Thunder, he was unstoppable: 12 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown, a rushing play for 18 yards, plus a recovered fumble he turned into a touchdown. His explosiveness changed games and gave the Enthroners’ offense and special teams a new dimension.

Weaknesses remain
Despite those strong additions, only one win came out of the season. The reasons were clear. Offensively, the Enthroners had the second-weakest rushing attack in the league and struggled in the red zone, finishing second to last in efficiency. Their turnover margin of -12 was also the third-worst in the ELF.
Defensively, problems continued. The team had the sixth-weakest pass defense and the third-weakest rush defense. Pressure on opposing quarterbacks was also limited, as they finished with just 17 sacks - ranking only 12th in the league. Even though the team invested in import players for the pass rush, the expected results never came.
Building for the future
For the Enthroners, the key will be to keep the imports that delivered and build consistency. Improving the rushing game on offense and strengthening the rushing defense will be crucial points for the offseason.
A new chapter ahead
No roster plans have been announced yet, but one thing is clear: the Fehérvár Enthroners will no longer play in the European League of Football. Starting next season, they will join the Austrian Football League (AFL).
