The object of desire arrived in Stuttgart on Friday, and anticipation for the biggest European football game of the year has reached the next level: more than 35,000 fans have already secured their tickets for the 2025 European League of Football Championship Game on Sunday (kickoff: 3 p.m.) at the MHP Arena.
The final will see the Vienna Vikings and Stuttgart Surge, currently the best teams on the continent, face off for the ELF trophy, which was presented at City Hall by League CEO Zeljko Karajica together with Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper and Rouven Kasper, board member of VfB Stuttgart.
"Stuttgart is very open to sports that are growing rapidly"
"As an international sports city, Stuttgart is very open to sports that are growing rapidly in Germany. It's great that tens of thousands of sports fans are coming to Stuttgart for the European League of Football final. I am particularly pleased that Stuttgart Surge has qualified for the final in Stuttgart," said Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper.
"We are delighted that the MHP Arena Stuttgart will be hosting the ELF Championship Game. On Sunday, our city and region will finally get to experience the long-awaited ‘Finale dahoim’ with our Stuttgart Surge taking part. What a special occasion! We will be witnessing another top-class international sporting highlight in the heart of our NeckarPark. VfB Stuttgart is keeping its fingers crossed for the ELF and both finalists that a new attendance record for European American football teams in Germany will be set and that we will all experience a high-class, atmospheric final," emphasized VfB board member Rouven Kasper.
"35,000 tickets sold are a strong signal"
"It is a great honor for the ELF to bring the Championship Game to Stuttgart for the first time - a city with a great football tradition and a sports-loving audience. More than 35,000 tickets sold are a strong signal that interest in our sport is growing steadily in Germany and Europe. With the Vienna Vikings and Stuttgart Surge, the two best teams on the continent are in the final. In addition, fans can look forward to a spectacular halftime show with Die Fantastischen Vier, for whom it is also a home game. It will be a football festival that will rock the MHP Arena," predicted ELF CEO Zeljko Karajica.
The current state of advance ticket sales is fueling hopes among those responsible for European football's "Champions League" that a new attendance record will be set. At the end of the 2024 ELF season, 41,364 spectators watched Rhein Fire's triumph over the Vienna Vikings in the FC Schalke 04 Arena in Gelsenkirchen. A record that could now be surpassed at VfB Stuttgart's MHP Arena.
"We will invest and sacrifice everything"
"In front of a breathtaking backdrop, in front of our fans and families in Stuttgart, we will invest and sacrifice everything we have to bring the trophy to Stuttgart," says Surge head coach Jordan Neuman, looking ahead to the duel with last year's finalists. But the Vienna Vikings are also eager to win, as head coach Chris Calaycay emphasizes: "Everything has come together so far this season, both on the field and around the team. We can be very proud of that. But we still have a big game ahead of us. And there is only one goal: to win it! We are ready to do whatever it takes to bring the title back to Vienna."
Visitors can also look forward to a unique spectacle away from the field: during the halftime break, hip-hop legends DIE FANTASTISCHEN VIER will take the stage in the middle of the Cannstatter Kurve and play an exclusive mini-concert. Together with the Stuttgart band, ELF is thus providing a show element that has never before been seen in this form at a sporting event in Europe. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend the Power Party before kickoff. The Family Experience Day will take place on Saturday. Admission for Power Party and Experience Day on the grounds of the Mercedes-Benz Museum is free.
