ELF roster deadline: Last chance for signings
Felix Pahl

The European League of Football’s signing deadline is almost here! By Tuesday, July 15th, all roster changes for the 2025 season must be finished. For fans, this is the last chance to see new players join their favorite teams for the remainder of the season.
Last chance for new signings
After this deadline, no new players can join a team for the season. So, if teams want fresh talent or need help for injured players, they must act quickly. Once a player is registered and confirmed by the league, he becomes part of the team for the rest of the season - unless the team decides to release him.
No replacements for import injuries
If an A-Import or E-Import suffers a long-term injury after the signing deadline, teams cannot sign a new player to replace him. That’s why this week is crucial for roster planning.

Special rule for quarterbacks
One important rule is different for quarterbacks. The quarterback position is the only one where teams can still bring in a new player after the signing deadline if there’s a serious injury. This rule helps teams stay prepared in case their starting QB goes down.
What is still allowed?
Even after the signing deadline, teams can still:
1. Bring back any Homegrown player or A-Import quarterback who was placed on injured reserve (IR) before the signing deadline.
2. Place players on the injured reserve list and activate them later. (Remember: players on IR must sit out at least 3 games.)
3. Release players from the roster.
4. Activate or deactivate players who were properly licensed before the deadline.
The signing deadline marks an exciting moment in the ELF season. Fans should keep an eye on the news for any last-minute moves as teams get ready for the playoff race!
