The European League of Football (ELF), currently in its fifth season, today announces a significant and strategically planned evolution of its leadership structure. This move is designed to further strengthen the league's foundation and accelerate its ambitious growth trajectory, which has been characterised by increasing global distribution agreements, sponsorship deals and fan engagement under the leadership of founder and CEO Zeljko Karajica.
"In the coming days, an experienced Co-CEO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be officially introduced. This step was unanimously approved by the ELF shareholders", said Zeljko Karajica, founder, majority shareholder and CEO.
This leadership change is a carefully considered and long-planned move designed to ensure a smooth transition and the continued stability of the league. Zeljko Karajica, founder, majority shareholder and current CEO, will remain as Co-CEO until the end of the current season. This period will ensure a strong and successful conclusion to the 2025 season and enable a comprehensive and smooth transition of responsibilities.
The shareholders would like to thank Zeljko Karajica from the bottom of their hearts for his unparalleled commitment and outstanding achievements as co-founder of the ELF. His pioneering spirit has transformed American football in Europe and created a fascinating league and an unparalleled platform for athletes - a testament to his incredible vision.
Patrick Esume, Commissioner of the European League of Football, adds: "The growth of the ELF has been nothing short of phenomenal. We have set a powerful course, and I‘m incredibly excited about the realignment and where it can take the league. We are truly taking American Football in Europe to new heights."
Heinz Kierchhoff, ELF partner, continues: "In just five short years, the ELF has demonstrated impressive growth and remarkable professionalism. We are incredibly impressed by what has been achieved and firmly believe that the league is a disruptive force in the European sports ecosystem."
We remain committed to our passionate fans and the continued growth of American football across Europe, ensuring a fair, transparent and rewarding ecosystem for our member teams through the continuous development of our model. As we look to the future, enthusiasm for the ELF continues to grow exponentially.
The new Co-CEO will be tasked with working closely with the European Football Alliance (EFA) to address key opportunities in governance, league regulations, and franchise expansion. This strategic focus, coupled with the strong interest from potential new teams for the upcoming season - with announcements forthcoming - underscores the league's rising prominence and the promising future we are building together.
