Chairman Michael Weidick Planeta starts as Co-Owner of Nordic Storm

Nordic Storm is looking forward to its first season in the European League of Football. On the way there, the young franchise will be receiving notable support. Chairman Michael Weidick Planeta will also act as co-owner of the Storm in the future.

"I’m incredibly proud to be the Chairman and Co-owner of Nordic Storm," Planeta said. "I’m so happy and appreciative of the attention and positive feedback we’ve received, not just from the league, but from everyone in the North. It’s amazing to see and talk with all the passionate people who want to join in building this great franchise, whether as admin, players, or coaches. We’ve chosen to build Nordic Storm on the "Green Bay Packers model."

The Packers compete in the NFL. What sets them apart from other franchises is that there is no single owner. Instead, there are many shareholders, who are mostly fans of the team.

Planeta has a clear goal in mind for his work: “My focus, along with the rest of the ownership, is to build the best team the Nordics have ever seen-something every Scandinavian can truly be proud of. Through that, we aim to create growth and passion for everyone in the North.”

Lots of experience for new challenges

His own football journey began back in 1999, when he played for the Danish team Greve Bulls, which has since changed its name to Avedøre Monarchs. He then moved on to the Hvidovre Stars, the Swedish team Limhamm Griffins and even played for the Danish national team.

Planeta was also head coach of the Køge Marines, O-line coach at the Herlev Rebels and running back coach for the Danish national team. He was also on the board of the Danish American Football Federation for three years.
