The 2025 ELF season has come to an end, but preparations for the upcoming year are already underway across the league. One of the first major developments comes from the Spanish franchise. The Madrid Bravos announced two days ago that Andrew Weidinger will step down as head coach for personal reasons. Taking his place on the sidelines in 2026 will be Dave Warner.
Warner joins the Bravos after a successful season with the Prague Lions. Under his leadership, the Czech franchise achieved its first winning record since joining the league in 2023, marking an important step in their development.
Returning to Madrid with recognized ability
In Madrid, Warner is a familiar figure. In 2024, he served as the team's offensive coordinator and played a key role in building a productive offense. Now he returns to the Spanish capital with the opportunity to lead the entire program.
Warner's coaching career extends beyond Europe. He has coached at several well-known US colleges, including Michigan State. His expertise lies particularly in offense and quarterback development. Players such as Kirk Cousins, Brian Hoyer and Nick Foles trained under his guidance – all three later reached the NFL, with Foles even claiming Super Bowl MVP honors.
The Bravos are counting on Warner to establish a stronger foundation and position the team for a postseason run. With his background in offensive strategy and proven ability to improve a young franchise, the organization believes he is well prepared to take the next step.
It remains to be seen how Warner will shape the Bravos heading into 2026, but his track record suggests that the franchise is in capable hands.
