Berlin Thunder make playoff appearance for the first time

It feels like a new era in Berlin. In the third year, it should finally work out for Berlin Thunder and the team of Johnny Schmuck. In the last home game of the season, they won narrowly against the Hamburg Sea Devils and thus made the playoffs clear. Especially the defense under Assistant Coach of the Year nominee Christopher Kuhfeldt has outgrown itself. Despite a temporarily injured Kyle Kitchens, the defense ranked 2nd in points allowed, 1st in yards allowed and 1st in touchdowns allowed.

Offensive change

Offensively, there was a lot of change in the regular season while relying on players like Max Zimmermann, Robin Wilzeck and Aaron Jackson. Quarterback Slade Jarman took over for Donovan Isom, with Albert Wiesigstrauch not returning to the starting eleven until Week 14 - even scoring. Against Frankfurt, the best performance must be shown to pass and qualify for the semifinals.
