Week 13: Six key takeaways

Week 13 in the European League of Football got us ready for the final week of the 2022 regular season!

QB Shelton carries his team

A quarterback touches the ball on every snap. But there are only a few quarterbacks in this league who impact every snap like Shelton does.

With another great performance by the (almost) Austrian quarterback, the Raiders made the impossible possible and came up clutch in the last minutes against the Galaxy.

By only loosing with three points, the Raiders now control their own destiny in Week 14 against the Berlin Thunder!

All playoff szenarios of Week 14 HERE!

WR Robitaille is on fire

Rhein Fire play electric offensive football. The 7-4 franchise had one player that caught on fire yesterday in Nathaniel Robitaille. The American wide receiver recorded a league-high of four receiving touchdowns in one game, next to three other players this season (Quinten Pounds, Timothy Knuettel, Seantavius Jones).

But he also did it while producing the most receiving yards by any player in European League of Football history (286).

Will Rhein Fire stay on fire in Week 14 to advance to the playoffs?

QB Germinerio found is groove

The Berlin Thunder needed this win against the Rams. But after a disappointing 2021 season, they also needed steady quarterback play.

With American gunslinger Joe Germinerio, the Thunder got exactly that. Five passing touchdowns and no interceptions prove once again that Germinerio found his groove.

But can he produce against a team with a winning record in a must-win matchup this week? So far, the Thunder were not able to win against any team with a winning record this season!

Vikings play more disciplined

After producing a horrific number of 17 penalties in Week 12, the Vikings played much more disciplined against the Barcelona Dragons at home in Week 13.

With only six penalties for a loss of 73 yards, the Austrian franchise head into the right direction for the playoffs in their first season.

Will the Vikings secure the first seed in the playoffs this week or stay behind the rushing Sea Devils?

Sea Devils = Rushing Devils

It seems like the Sea Devils will not stop to run the football. In Week 13, the Hanseatic franchise ran for over 200 yards once again while only allowing just over 20 rushing yards for the Panthers.

This mix of being able to dominate the ground on offense and on defense could be the right recipe for a deep playoff run.

Will the Sea Devils fight off the Barcelona Dragons in Week 14 to keep their first seed in the playoffs?

QB Cunningham makes his case for 2023

The Leipzig Kings played a winless Stuttgart Surge team in Week 13. You could argue that putting up 38 points against an opponent who did not manage to win one game up this point does not count that much. Maybe you are right.

But quarterback Gabriel Cunningham played solid games for the Kings so far, including Week 13 against the Surge.

In two games, Cunningham produced 444 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He also came up with 112 rushing yards per game and one score on the ground.

Will he the dual-threat quarterback be the future for the Kings at quarterback in 2023?
