Season 2024: Fourth is the charm

The 2024 season of the European League of Football promises an exciting journey through Europe.

The 2024 season of the European League of Football promises an exciting journey through Europe. 17 teams from nine nations create football highlights on the road to the championship. The ELF has quickly established itself as the leading American football league on the European continent - now the next level is set to be reached.

New structure - new opportunities

The league's structure includes seven teams that have been part of the ELF since its inception, as well as ten more recent entrants who have been able to enrich the competition with diverse styles of play. Founding members such as the Frankfurt Galaxy, Hamburg Sea Devils, Berlin Thunder, Cologne Centurions, Stuttgart Surge, Panthers Wrocław and Barcelona Dragons continue their hunt for glory and bring plenty of experience to the field. So far, only the Galaxy have been crowned champions in 2021.

Play-off placements might not be enough

For the German capital franchise, led by former ELF champion Jakeb Sullivan, and the Dragons, now the time has come to move beyond a play-off placement. The Surge, meanwhile, led by Jordan Neuman, appear to have awoken from their initial hibernation and could also challenge the Championship in 2024.

European champions and those who want to become one

Reigning champions Rhein Fire enter their third season together with another former champion, the Vienna Vikings, and the Raiders Tirol, seen by some as the secret favorites, while the Paris Musketeers, Fehérvár Enthroners, Prague Lions, Milano Seamen, Munich Ravens and Guards as well as newcomer Madrid Bravos will try to make their mark on the league.

With new starters and old rivals, it is questionable whether the champions will be able to defend their title this year. The historical strength of the founding teams, the ambition of the newer franchises or strategic battles across conference borders - the attraction of the competition is magical. There could be an unprecedented frontrunner in the fourth year. A testament to the sport's growing appeal and the league's role in shaping the future of American football in Europe.
