The comeback of Rhein Fire in 2021 has caused great excitement among numerous football fans in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area. Now, those responsible for the team from the European League of Football, the city of Düsseldorf and organizer D.LIVE have agreed that Rhein Fire will play at least one top game in the 2025 season and two top games in the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in 2026. Football fans recognize the arena from the 2021 record-breaking Championship Game between the Frankfurt Galaxy and the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Tom Aust, general manager at Rhein Fire: "We are pleased to have found a joint solution for the future in trusting and constructive discussions. Rhein Fire has a great history in Düsseldorf, and we have always felt connected to the state capital. We would like to thank all those involved who have worked on this since day one and have now made it possible. This is certainly great news for our fans as well." The Rhein Fire will still play all of their home games until 2024 in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena in Duisburg – while the organization is located in Düsseldorf.

Colorful football festivities

"Football has a great tradition and fan base in our city. The cooperation with the NFL that began last year has given the sport even more importance and presence in Düsseldorf, which could be seen recently at the Karneval, for example. I am therefore more than pleased that Rhein Fire will once again play one or two home games in Düsseldorf in the future and ensure colorful football festivities in and around the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA,” Dr. Stephan Keller, mayor of the state capital Düsseldorf, said.
