Leipzig Kings sign German linebacker Sasan Jelvani
The Kings add another talented linebacker to their already strong front-seven!
The Leipzig Kings sign German linebacker Sasan, as the German franchise announced.
“[Head] coach Armstrong is a coach you love to play for, and I think that is something that has showed itself last season”, Jelvani commented on why he decided to sign with the Kings. He added: “Being a team that was formed a couple of weeks before the start of the season last year and still being in a position at the end of the season to compete for a playoff-spot is very impressive”.
The 26-year-old linebacker lastly played for the Saarland Hurricanes. In 2021, he led the German Football League in sacks (12) and in tackles for loss (32). Jelvani also recorded 98 total tackles which ranked third-best amongst all players.
Kings head coach Fred Armstrong is also excited to have Jelvani on his team for the 2022 season: Sasan was the best edge player in the GFL last year and many teams wanted him from the European League of Football in 2022 also”. He added: “[Jelvani] embraces the opportunity to play the hardest football schedule in Europe with our Kings and include himself on being part of a strong defensive team for 2022. Huge pick up for our Kings!”.
The dangerous pass rusher already has some goals in mind for the 2022 as well: “Now with a full off-season, the goal is to become the best franchise in the European League of Football on and off the field”. He continued: “Talent-wise, we have everything in Leipzig to shock the rest of the league. Being part of that and competing against Europe’s best players is something I am very excited about and one of the main reasons I decided to join the European League of Football. I think the league will be very competitive this upcoming season because every team has added some serious talent.”.
