Hot Take Friday: Gabriel Cunningham is the best quarterback in the Eastern Conference

There are many impressive quarterbacks in the European League of Football. And while you will have to wait for a few more weeks to see my full quarterback ranking, I am convinced that Gabriel Cunningham is the best quarterback in his conference. Why? Well, there are many reasons to it.
Astonishing athleticism and pocket presence
Firstly, Cunningham has an unmatched athleticism at his position. His scrambling ability is outstanding and on a whole other level compared to all the other quarterbacks in the league, including Zach Edwards. Thanks to his legs, Cunningham frequently escaped pressure behind a weak Leipzig Kings' offensive line and turned what should have been sacks into 30 yards scrambles.
Despite his athleticism, he is not a run first quarterback. He has a good feel for pressure and does not panic, making sure to go through his reads, instead of fleeing the pocket. While his processing speed might be only average, Cunningham’s decision-making is generally good. Although his ball placement could be a little bit better sometimes, his overall accuracy is good, and he has outstanding deep ball accuracy, even when throwing on the run. Talking of deep balls, Cunningham has a cannon for an arm. Despite pressure, the former Texas Tech commit can heave balls 50+ yards downfield to his wide receivers.

Gabriel Cunningham has everything a quarterback needs to great. Due to the Kings’ offensive line struggles, we just saw flashes of what the Alabama native really is capable of. This is (hopefully) set to change in 2023. Don’t be surprised if Cunningham reaches his full potential with the Enthroners, establishing himself as one of the premier quarterbacks in the European League of Football.
