Week 3 takeaways – Raiders look unstoppable, Musketeers underperform

There was a lot going on in the European League of Football this week! But what are the takeaways?

The third week of the 2023 season is in the books. Cristal clear wins and thrilling fourth-quarter endings were all part of Week 3. But what are the major takeaways after another week of the regular season is behind us?

Tirol Raiders + Sandro Platzgummer = unbeatable?

The Tirol Raiders looked great in the first two weeks, but they looked even better in Week 3 against the Barcelona Dragons with former New York Giants running back Sandro Platzgummer on the field. The Austrian native got one first down after another although he only played a limited number of snaps due to his injury that kept his sidelined for the first two weeks of the regular season. I have a hard time thinking about defenses in this league who can stop the Raiders receiving core with quarterback Christian Strong, their great offensive line and Sandro Platzgummer coming out of the backfield.

Paris Musketeers keep underperforming

Another week, another loss. This is not the season the Musketeers and a lot of European League of Football fans were expecting. Although the French team has a loaded roster when you look at their players, they were so far unable to come together as a unit.

Rhein Fire is one of the top teams in this league, but you should not give up numerous wide-open touchdowns in a game. On top of that, former Barcelona Dragons quarterback Zach Edwards and 2022 triple-crown winner Kyle Sweet also have tough time to repeat their success with the Musketeers. I still believe that the Musketeers will get better over time and that they have the ability to almost beat any team in this league. But when will that be?

Munich Ravens could make some noise in Central Conference

Fly Ravens, fly? The Munich Ravens just played their second game of the season after a bye week in Week 2. To say the last, they started slow against the Helvetic Guards in Swiss, but ended up firing out of all cannons. Quarterback Chad Jeffries and wide receiver Markell Castle are a match made in heaven. With a dangerous running game, defenses around the league will have a tough time matching up against their offensive firepower. The 1-1 Ravens will visit the 2-1 Barcelona Dragons in Week 3. In my opinion, this is one of the most exciting matchups in Week 4!
