The Vienna Vikings found their new quarterback! GFL All-Star Chris Helbig, who led the Potsdam Royals to an undefeated regular season and a German Bowl appearance, will join the Austrian powerhouse.

Three-time team captain and GFL passing yards leader

After being a two-time All-State player in Colorado and winning Conference Player of the Year twice in high school, Helbig played for Butler Community College before transferring to Southern Utah. Thanks to a strong 2019 season with the Thunderbirds, Helbig was on the brink of transferring to Eastern Michigan, but the move failed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After ending his collegiate career with almost 6000 yards and over 50 touchdowns, the three-time team captain joined the Potsdam Royals.

Chris Helbig is coming of a stellar 2022 season in the GFL. In 12 regular season games, the Colorado native completed 231 passes for 3406 yards and 36 touchdowns while only throwing 5 interceptions, leading his team to the German Bowl.
