Vienna Vikings hire Max Kössler as assistant head coach

With Chris Calaycay as the head coach and Danny Mitchell as the offensive coordinator, the Vikings have announced yet another quality addition to their coaching staff in Max Kössler!

There are a lot of players who profited from Max Kössler being their coach. The new Vienna Vikings assistant head coach worked with projected first round pick Bernhard Raimann, current Arizona Cardinals tight end Bernhard Seikovits, and NFL International Combine attendee Yannick Mayr.

Now, Kössler is joining the Vikings in the European League of Football. Vikings head coach Calaycay noted that the Austrian wide receiver guru will be of tremendous value to the players around him. “Max [Kössler] takes over as our assistant head coach for the inaugural European League of Football season. Max [Kössler] has been with the Vikings as a coach for a long time now and has developed into the top receiver coach in Austria [and] Europe. Two of his products prodigies are soon to be in the NFL, and it’s a testament to the level of coaching he brings to the Vikings.”

After joining the Vikings organization as a player back in 2007, Kössler worked his way up to become one of the best wide receiver coaches in Europe. Since 2019, the Austrian coach is orchestrating the Vikings offense and now gets the opportunity to be part of the coaching staff in their inaugural season in the European League of Football.

Kössler noted that the European League of Football presents players and coaches with amazing opportunities. “The European League of Football finally presents the stage our game deserves, and we all have been waiting for a long time. […] The Vienna Vikings are ready to master new challenges and make new experiences, all while playing at the highest level, on the biggest stage on the continent.”

At the end of the day, Kössler wants to get on the field with his team and show Europe what the Austrian franchise is made off: “Regardless of whom or where we will be playing, one thing is for certain: We will show everyone what Viking Football is about!”
