Top 100 Players of 2023, Nos. 90-81: Newcomers and veteran kickers

The 2022 Special Teams Player of the Year was one of the few bright spots outside of the defense on this year’s Hamburg Sea Devils team. His 69 points along with 82.22% accuracy ranked the German among the best kickers in the league in 2023.

The Milano gunslinger played a good first season in the ELF. Zahradka completed a single-season record 293 passes for 3518 yards and 25 touchdowns, making the Seamen offense one of the most effective passing offenses in the league.

Jan “Honza” Starý has arguably been one of the best players the Prague Lions had on their roster last year. The Czech standout amassed 28 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and two forced fumbles in just nine games, proving to be a valuable asset on the opposite side of James Brooks.

The ELF all-time receiving yards leader turned into Luke Zahradka’s favorite target quickly, catching 65 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns in just eight games. Averaging over 100 yards per game, the three-year veteran was on pace for more than 1200 yards before his season was cut short due to personal reasons.

After coming in halfway through the season to replace the injured Nathaniel Robitaille, Willie Patterson showed early on that he was here to stay. The former Montana State receiver caught 30 passes for 506 yards and six touchdowns, while also returning 21 kicks for 500 yards and two touchdowns.

The former GFL All-Star was a multi-purpose weapon for the Munich Ravens in 2023, functioning as their kicker, punter, and handling kickoff duties as well. Werner ranked second in the league with 77 points.

The 2022 Offensive Player of the Year pieced together a solid season in his first year in France, catching 77 passes for 851 yards and seven touchdowns. While his production did not match his historic 2022 campaign, Sweet looked way more comfortable during the later parts of the season, with Paris ending the season on a high-note.

Being one of the best offseason signings of 2023, Dajon Owens turned into a day one star for the Cologne Centurions. “Junebug” recorded 24 tackles and a tackle for loss, broke up eight passes and intercepted three, while also forcing three fumbles, proving that he is a real playmaker and one of the best cornerbacks in European football.

Jakub Smutný has been an exciting player for many years now. After multiple years with different Czech teams and the Dresden Monarchs, the national team star had a great season in Prague. In eight games, Smutný recorded 29 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, a sack, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.

The 31-year-old Austrian solidified his spot as one of the best domestic offensive linemen in European Football. Fankhauser has been an important piece for the Tirol Raiders offense this past season in the running as well as the passing game.
