Week 14 Recap - Final playoff seed clinched

The Raiders Tirol have clinched the final spot in the playoffs with a win over the Berlin Thunder!

Raiders Tirol (8-4) @ Berlin Thunder (7-5)

The Berlin Thunder started this game with a bang. A long pass to wide receiver Robin Wilzeck that ended up in the endzone on the first play from scrimmage wowed the Raiders sideline.

But the Austrian franchise came ready to play and brought their “A-game” for the remaining three quarters. With great returns and runs by running back J.C. Okpalobi and a crushing defense, the Raiders rolled over a weakened Berlin team.

Quarterback Joe Germinerio and wide receiver Robin Wilzeck both had to exit the game around halftime because of injuries. With that, two of the playmakers for the Thunder were out which put the nail in the coffin.

With a final score of 10-37, the Raiders secured their playoff ticket for the 2022 postseason.

Leipzig Kings (4-8) @ Rhein Fire (7-5)

The Leipzig Kings were coming off a 38-0 win over the Surge. With that kind of self-confidence, the Kings travelled to Duisburg to make life tough for the Rhein Fire.

But Rhein Fire, with small playoff hopes coming into the game, was also ready to make this game count.

With two teams ready to make every snap count, their Week 14 matchup came down to the last minutes of the fourth quarter.

The Leipzig Kings kicked a go-ahead field goal with about four minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter which Rhein Fire were not able to come back from. An interception ended the game with a win for the 4-8 Kings! The Rhein Fire consequently fell to 7-5 in their first season in the European League of Football!

Stuttgart Surge (0-12) @ Frankfurt Galaxy (8-4)

The Frankfurt Galaxy were still hoping to secure the last remaining playoff ticket once the game kicked off. With a shaky performance in the first half, the Surge were still in the game at halftime with a score of 13-17.

But the Galaxy turned their game up a notch in the second half in which quarterback Jakeb Sullivan almost complete every pass and former NFL wide receiver Reece Horn just caught everything that flew his way.

Although the Galaxy won over the Surge in dominant fashion with a final score of 13-37, the Raiders clinched the last remaining playoff spot as they have won the direct comparison.

Vienna Vikings (10-2) @ Wroclaw Panthers (5-7)

The Vienna Vikings had the second seed in the playoffs secured before kickoff. That is also why Vikings head coach Chris Calaycay decided to play second string players for almost the entire game.

Quarterback Jackson Erdmann and other starters of the Austrian franchise only saw the field for a limited amount of time.

However, the Panthers were coming out hot with their third American quarterback of the season in John Uribe. The American gunslinger passed for three touchdowns and ran for an additional score on the ground.

With the Vikings playing their second-string team, the Panthers rolled over the Vienna with a final score of 42-6.
