Week 13 Preview: Who will keep their playoff hopes alive?

Week 13 is right around the corner with promising matchups on Saturday and Sunday!

Berlin Thunder (6-4) @ Istanbul Rams (1-9)

The Berlin Thunder control their own destiny this season. If they lose this game tomorrow, they are out of the playoff race in 2022.

However, a lot of facts hint at a win by the Thunder over the 1-9 Rams. In Week 12, the Thunder were able to produce over 200 rushing yards against possibly the best front-seven in the league.

Quarterback Joe Germinerio will also have his top-weapon back in wide receiver Robin Wilzeck for a lot of chunk plays down the field. Over the last games, Wilzeck developed into a premier deep threat for the Thunder offense.

So, will the Thunder stay in the hunt for the fourth seed or will their journey end in Istanbul?

Rhein Fire (6-4) @ Cologne Centurions (2-8)

This matchup between Rhein Fire and the Cologne Centurions is a brewing rivalry that will last for decades.

The Centurions lost their first matchup this season in Duisburg in clear fashion. But is Cologne ready to kick their arch-rival out of the playoff race?

If Rhein Fire loses this game, they are out of playoff contention. However, quarterback Jadrian Clark and NFL IPP prospect Harlan Kwofie are both coming off a strong game against the Frankfurt Galaxy and are primed for another great outing in Cologne. And let’s say Rhein Fire knows how to kick long game-winning field goals.

Will we see another thriller in Cologne on Saturday?

Barcelona Dragons (8-2) @ Vienna Vikings (9-1)

Could this be the Championship Game matchup in Klagenfurt on September? Possibly. So, get your popcorn ready and enjoy some of the best football Europe has to offer.

The Barcelona Dragons are coming off a dominating win over the winless Surge. Quarterback Zach Edwards worked some magic once again, but will the Vikings be mesmerized by his tricks this time around?

The Austrian franchise won against the Rams in Week 12. But they had a league-high 17 penalties that can easily cost you a win, especially against the Dragons. ´

Will the Vikings be more disciplined or are the Raiders fighting for a better seed in the playoffs?

Raiders Tirol (7-3) @ Frankfurt Galaxy (6-4)

This will be a matchup that is going be watched on the rewind the entire offseason. If the Raiders Tirol win this matchup and move up to 8-3, they are almost guaranteed to have the fourth seed in the playoffs.

BUT the Frankfurt Galaxy will play at home. The last time the reigning champions has played in front of their own fans marked the first loss for the Vienna Vikings in 2022.

Former NFL wide receiver Reece Horn has caught at least one touchdown in each game he has played for the Galaxy so far. Will he do keep the streak going against the Raiders?

There is a small damper for the Raiders: Vincent Buffet is suspended for one game for Unsportsmanlike Conduct by the league. In addition, wide receiver Yannick Mayr is out once again (upper body) - a bitter loss after his 211 receiving yards a week ago.

No matter who wins, this game is a MUST-WATCH for every American football fan in Europe!

Wroclaw Panthers (4-6) @ Hamburg Sea Devils (9-1)

The Hamburg Sea Devils are currently having the first seed in the 2022 playoffs. But this will change if they lose to the Panthers at home this weekend.

With American quarterback Slade Jarman and wide receiver Malik Stanley, the Polish franchise will put their best foot forward to make life tough for their conference rival.

But the Sea Devils are coming off a dominating win against the Thunder and show no signs of slowing down. Will they crush Wroclaw under their wave or will the Panthers leap over the tsunami that is about to come their way?

Leipzig Kings (2-8) @ Stuttgart Surge (0-10)

If the Surge win a game this season, this could be it. Running back Philéas Pasqualini had a game against the Dragons in Week 12 individually with over 100 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. But the Surge passing attack lacks explosiveness and playmakers.

The Kings will come into town with still one of the best front-sevens in the league. A matchup you should look out for is league-leading tackler A.J. Wentland against running back Pasqualini.

Are the Surge going to end their losing streak or are the Kings coming to rule the Surge once again?
