Week 12 Preview: The Clash of NFL Europe rivals

Week 12 is almost here! Who is ready for another Super-Sunday?

0-9 Stuttgart Surge @ 7-2 Barcelona Dragons

The Surge will travel to Barcelona for the only Saturday game this week. Will it be a thriller until the end? Probably not. But the 7-2 Dragons cannot let their foot of the gas as the 5-4 Rhein Fire as sitting right behind their back for a potential spot in the playoffs.

If the Dragons win against the winless Surge this weekend, they have officially clinched the first seed in the South Conference. Who would have thought the Spaniards would turn things around this quickly after a losing season in 2021?

8-1 Hamburg Sea Devils @ 6-3 Berlin Thunder

Can American Football in Europe get any more exciting than this? The 8-1 Hamburg Sea Devils travel to their 6-3 conference rival to battle it out. If the Sea Devils win, they officially have clinched the top seed in the North Conference.

But the Thunder will be a difficult opponent for the Hanseatic franchise. With quarterback Joe Germinerio protecting the football, wide receiver like Robin Wilzeck winning most of his contested catches, and a menace at running back with Joc Crawford, the Thunder will come in swinging.

Will the Sea Devils dominate Berlin like they did in Week 1 or will the Thunder strike with lightning?

2-7 Cologne Centurions @ 6-3 Raiders Tirol

On paper, this is a matchup the Centurions probably lose. However, the Raiders played against the Galaxy in Week 2 and started their season with an 0-2 record.

But quarterback Sean Shelton is just playing too good at the moment to be stopped by the Centurions defense. Even the Raiders defense added some pieces by signing talents straight out of NFL training camps with Austrian defensive lineman Thomas Schaffer and defensive back Jamalcolm Liggins.

Will the Centurions pull off the unthinkable or are the Raiders ready to win?

6-3 Frankfurt Galaxy @ 5-4 Rhein Fire

The most anticipated game of the week. With over 10.000 tickets already sold, the 6-3 Galaxy and the 5-4 Rhein Fire will play in front of the biggest crowd the European League of Football has ever had in the regular season.

Rhein Fire quarterback Jadrian Clark just comes off a game with the most passing touchdowns and most passing yards in European League of Football history. Will the gunslinger continue to be as dominant or are the Galaxy ready to shut him down?

The Galaxy offense is on a roll as well with quarterback Jakeb Sullivan and former NFL wide receiver Reece Horn dominating their opponents week and week out.

Will we see a shootout between old NFL Europe rivalries ending in overtime?

1-8 Istanbul Rams @ 8-1 Vienna Vikings

The Istanbul Rams are getting stronger and stronger every week. Winning against the Dragons and then forcing the Sea Devils into overtime speaks for itself.

But the Vienna Vikings just come off a crushing loss against the reigning champion and will do everything to get their energy flowing again.

Will the Rams surprise once again or are the Vikings brining their A-game?

3-6 Wroclaw Panthers @ 2-7 Leipzig Kings

This could be the closest game of the week. Both, the Panthers, and the Kings, are without any playoff hopes this season and could already try out backup players and strategies for next season.

With quarterback Conor Miller suffering a season-ending injury against the Sea Devils last week, the Kings have signed American quarterback Gabriel Cunningham. Will he be the answer at quarterback for the Kings this season and beyond?

Let’s get ready for an exciting week of the best American football Europe has to offer!
