#visitklagenfurt: Lake Wörthersee only one of many Mediterranean-like lakes

Klagenfurt and the Carinthia region are known for their thousand lakes!

We introduce you to the most beautiful lakes! Austria's southernmost province is not only home to major sports festivals such as the Championship Game of the European League of Football or the European Championship in soccer back in 2008, but also to lakes of the most beautiful varieties.

Carinthia is home to more than 1,200 lakes that invite you to get away from work. Here you can enjoy Mediterranean vacation flair. We show you the most beautiful lakes and what awaits you there.

It is the classic among the Carinthian lakes and keeps its promise. Around Lake Wörthersee, which also adjoins Klagenfurt, there are plenty of excursion destinations - for everyone who likes to do something on vacation and also needs time to rest. Although Lake Wörthersee is considered to be in the higher price segment, it still offers a lot of things to do even for those on a tight budget. For night owls who also want to take advantage of a wide range of bars or restaurants, Lake Wörthersee is the perfect vacation spot. The scenery, in any case, is fantastic.

Here there is probably the perfect mix of a mountain panorama and a swimmers paradise. On the horizon the Karawanken, the same name as the training ground of the 28 BLACK ARENA, and in front of you the calm lake. Faaker See, like almost all lakes in the region, has a turquoise blue color and offers swimming opportunities at all positions of the lake. For water rats, it's a real paradise.

Natural shore, sustainable tourism. If, away from the football hustle and bustle, you're still drawn to somewhat milder waters, Lake Weissensee is a good destination. Here, too, the water shimmers turquoise blue. In this nature park, much of the lake can only be reached on foot. Hiking and relaxing possibilities are numerous.

Klagenfurt and the region of Carinthia offer you enough possibilities to extend your trip. Besides the Championship Game on September 25th, you will also find the Pregame Party at the already mentioned Wörthersee on Saturday, September 24th. No matter to which lake you are drawn, it is always worth a trip.
