#visitklagenfurt: Lake Wörthersee invites you to travel

In our series #visitklagenfurt we take you with us and bring you closer to the city of Klagenfurt and the region of Carinthia. Enjoy an unforgettable time at the Championship Game of the European League of Football.

The European League of Football invites the football fans of Europe to the Championship Game on September 25th in Klagenfurt, Austria. However, the capital of the Carinthian region not only has its advantages when the egg-shaped ball flies through the air, but also offers a lot of varied activities away from the field.

The vacation region of Wörthersee is located exactly between the Alps in the north and the Adriatic Sea in the south. Thus, it combines probably the two most beautiful attractions of Central and Southern Europe.

Austria's Caribbean invites you

Due to its striking turquoise-green color and exceptionally warm water temperature, the alpine lake is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Austria, also called "Austria's Caribbean" by travel experts.

Historic fun fact: In 1770, Lake Wörthersee was lowered by a few meters, creating the village center of Maria Wörth and one of the most beautiful peninsulas of the lake. Only a 13-minute drive away from the 28 BLACK ARENA. If you want to swim, you can choose one of many bathing spots to hop into the cool water. Due to its wind-protected valley location, the water warms up to 25 degrees in summer in water depths of up to 8 meters. Even in late summer it is still a strong recommendation.

Action and culture on and at the lake

Numerous lakeside villas from the turn of the century, most of which were planned by Viennese architects, still provide beautiful filmback drops today. Those with an affinity for water sports can look forward to numerous water sports for young and old, such as diving, water skiing, parasailing, wakeboarding or a round with the banana boat, provide plenty of fun, combining it with the Championship Game weekend you won’t forget.
