Team Special: Barcelona Dragons

After having problems at the start of the 2021 season, the Barcelona Dragons picked up the pace later in the season and are looking like a promising team for this season.

Players to watch

With Niko Lester switching positions from defensive back to running back, the Dragons added an explosive and dynamic playmaker for their offense. An almost completely new offensive line with exciting homegrown talents will not only aid Lester, but quarterback Zach Edwards, as well.

A defense featuring SEC defensive player of the year and NFL veteran Michael Sam on the edge, and 2021 European League of Football All-Star Andy Vera in the backfield will make life difficult for the opposing quarterbacks.

Steadily improving

After being the second worst team in 2021, Barcelona is ready to take a big step forward, retaining key players on defense and adding new talent on offense, for their NFL experienced coaching staff to work with. Dragons’ fans can expect a different kind of team on the field in 2022.

Speaking of their fans: Barcelona had arguably the greates tfans in the European League of Football last season. Luckily, their stadium has space for almost 5000 football afficionados, who will make some noise, when the opposing offense is on the field.
