On Saturday, the Stuttgart Surge franchise announced that the contract of Andy Meyer, defensive coordinator and longtime companion of head coach Martin Hanselmann, has been extended for another year. With this, the coaching staff of the German football franchise continues to take shape, after Martin Hanselmann was re-signed recently.

"The reason why I had changed to Stuttgart Surge is the already long-standing collaboration with Martin Hanselmann and the good conditions. In the background I trust in the acting persons. And that is of course also a reason why I have agreed for 2022", Andy Meyer explains his decision.

"In the past season we were able to show how good our defense can be", explained Andy Meyer.

A strong bond for the Stuttgart Surge

"Andy has become more than just a coach, but a good friend as well. He works hard and I really appreciate his work. Last season he already proved that he can form a good defense. Therefore, for this franchise, he is the right man for the future", head coach Martin Hanselmann praises his defensive coordinator.

With a strong defense, Meyer wants to do his part to make the playoffs.
