Playoff Recap - Hamburg Sea Devils secure ticket to Klagenfurt

The Hamburg Sea Devils travel to their second Championship Game in a row!

(8-4) Raiders Tirol @ (11-1) Hamburg Sea Devils

The first of two playoff matches took place in Hamburg today. Surprisingly, the Sea Devils went into the game with a switch at the quarterback position. Usual starting quarterback Salieu Ceesay on the sideline as Moritz Maack began the game under center.

However, Maack was injured during the first drive on a roughing the passer. This called up Ceesay to take the reign again which he did by throwing for the first touchdown of the game just minutes later.

The Raiders Tirol were trailing the Sea Devils with 10-0 in the second half but were to come back with a wild touchdown pass to tight end Markus Schaberl which was actually intended for wide receiver Marco Schneider

The Sea Devils had to keep Ceesay behind center for the remainder of the game as quarterback Moritz Maack has suffered a season ending injury, as the quarterback announced in a sideline interview during the game.

Next to the two offenses, the Raiders and the Sea Devils defense came out to play with only two total touchdowns allowed in the entire game until deep in the fourth quarter.

This also kept the Raiders trailing the Sea Devils with a score of 16 – 9. On a fourth down with four yards to go, Shelton could not keep the drive alive which almost sealed the deal for the Sea Devils.

Another great run by Toonga later and the Sea Devils were in field goal range to letting Eric Schlomm convert his fourth field goal of the day.

The Sea Devils were just too dominant with former NFL pass rusher Kasim Edebali leading the way with three quarterback sacks and over four tackles for loss.

With a final score of 19 – 7, the Sea Devils will appear in their second Championship Game in a row. Will they finally be on top of the European League of Football after a brutal loss in Düsseldorf in 2021?
