Paris Musketeers sign defensive back Cam Hilton

The former Mizzou starter will be the fourth American for the French franchise.

The Paris Musketeers found their fourth US-import in Cam Hilton. The 26-year-old defensive back offers plenty of options for Coach Mattioli’s team.

Two-way starter in high school

Cam Hilton was a standout for his local high school Webster Groves, where he played wide receiver, defensive back and returner due to his outstanding athleticism. The gifted athlete also played on the school’s basketball team, where he earned Second-Team All-Conference honors in his junior season. But it was on the gridiron, where Hilton stood out even more.

With 63 tackles, three sacks, and seven interceptions, of which he returned three for six, on defense and 54 catches for 922 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense, the St. Louis native caught the eye of scouts. He was ranked as a three-star recruit and the #11 overall player in the state by 247 Sports following his senior season with 900 receiving yards 14 touchdowns, 40 tackles and seven interceptions.

From wide receiver to safety

The two-time All-State player chose the Mizzou Tigers over Indiana and played on offense and special teams during his freshman year. Hilton switched to safety before his freshman campaign during which he earned the starting spot late in the season. After finishing his sophomore campaign with 49 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss one sack and one interception, Hilton mostly saw the field on third down packages in 2017.

Have you seen this yet?

While his junior season was rather disappointing, the former high school star established himself as the starting free safety for the Tigers in 2018, racking up 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, eight pass deflections and three interceptions, of which two came in the Liberty Bowl, finishing his collegiate career on a high note.

After participating in a training camp with the San Francisco 49ers, Hilton played indoor football for the Duke City Gladiators and Frisco Fighters.
Now the talented defensive back is making his way to Europe for the first time in his career. Besides further enhancing a defensive backfield featuring players like Amir Kilani, Félix Proulx, Ibdel Ahidazan and many more, Hilton is also a threat as a returner due to his speed and impressive change of direction abilities.
