Leipzig Kings sign Chinese Swiss army knife Shida Wang

Kings add a multi-positional player to their roster for the upcoming season!

The Leipzig Kings have signed Chinese defensive back and wide receiver Shida Wang to their roster for the 2022 season, as reported by the franchise.

The 33-year-old athlete should have been on the Kings roster in 2021, but visa issues made it not possible for the German franchise to sign Wang. This year, the Chinese player is finally set to take the stage for the Kings in the best American football league in Europe.

“Shida [Wang] is a tremendous athlete as he will play opposite [Roedion] Henrique at the corner [position] on defense and will make some explosive plays for us on offense from the wide receiver position”, Kings head coach Armstrong announced. He added: “He will also be a special teams nightmare for opposing teams , and the biggest intangible is his competitiveness”.

Wang started to play football in China, but quickly decided to take his talents overseas. He attended Arcadia University in Canada and played for the university team over three years. Back in China, Wang played as a wide receiver and defensive back in the Chinese Arena Football League (CAFL). The standout athlete also co-founded the Wuhan Berserkers which is currently the best team in the CAFL.

The Chinese Swiss army knife expressed his excitement to finally play for the Kings in 2022: “Big shoutout to the European League of Football and Kings [head] coach Fred Armstrong for giving me this opportunity. I will to my best to help the team win games. I can’t wait to meet you guys in Leipzig. Go Kings!”.
