Leipzig Kings re-sign defensive tackle Aslan Zetterberg

The 2021 European League of Football All-Star will stay with the Kings for another year.

After another impressive season, Aslan Zetterberg had to be a focus point for the Leipzig Kings in this offseason. The Kings are keeping their defensive core around, already re-signing safety William James and league tackling leader AJ Wentland. By extending Zetterberg, another franchise cornerstone will stay with the Saxonian franchise in 2023.

Zetterberg, who played at San Francisco City College, is one of the most dominant defensive tackles in European League of Football history. With 20.5 career sacks, the Swede is ranking second just behind two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kyle Kitchens and has proven to be a difference maker time and time again.

“Aslan is one of the most dominant players in all of Europe.”

Coach John Booker is happy to have the NFL International Combine invitee back: “Aslan is one of the most dominant players in all of Europe. It was obviously a priority to keep a guy like that on our roster. Games are won upfront and having Aslan upfront is huge piece to the puzzle of winning those battles.”

Zetterberg will form a dominant defensive tackle duo with German national team player Nico Koch, that will excel in stuffing the run and pose a threat to the opposing quarterbacks.
