The Frankfurt Galaxy announced the signing of Italian defensive back Fabrizio Umetelli to their 2022 roster.

With his 182cm and 86kg, Umetelli started his active career with the Lazio Marines in 2012. Over the years, the Italian standout athlete fought his way up to play in the United States where he dressed up for the LCA Eagles in 2017.

From 2018 to 2021, Umetelli played for the Weber State Wildcats and even fought his way into a starting role.

„First of all, I want to thank [head] coach Kösling for this amazing opportunity“, Umetelli commented on his signing. He added: “I‘m extremely excited and blessed to be able to join the Galaxy family, and I’m ready to give 110% to help us bring another championship back to Frankfurt“.

Galaxy head coach Thomas Kösling is also excited to welcome such a high-caliber player to his team: “Fabrizio [Umetelli] took on an unbelievable journey to develop as a player. As a walk-on from Italy, he fought his way into a starting role at Weber State which shows his dedication and determination”. Kösling continued: “We are happy to give this talented cornerback the opportunity to play on Europe’s highest level”.
