At the Helvetic Guards, defensive coordinator Otis Smith and defensive line coach Bert Hill step down due to personal reasons. Otis Smith was part of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots in 2002, even catching the game winning interception. The new DC will be Jim Ward, who was previously active for the Braunschweig Lions in the GFL. The US-American has enough experience to make an impact. Joining him, succeeding Bert Hill, is Bill Kollar as defensive line coach. As a coach, he was responsible for the dominant performance of the Denver Broncos defensive line in Super Bowl 50. Other previous teams include the Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills or Houston Texans.

Best coaching staff in the league?

Also joining the coaching staff is Pete Metzelaars as Special Teams Coordinator and tight ends coach – former coach of the Barcelona Dragons, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers as a coach, winning the Super Bowl in 2006 with the Colts. From 1982 to 1997, he was active as a player in the NFL.
