Standing at a 7-4 record after 11 games, the Frankfurt Galaxy are one of four remaining teams fighting for a trip to the post-season. But with their good point differential of +112, last year’s champions have the second highest chances to make the playoffs, just behind the Raiders Tirol.

It all comes down to this weekend, as the Raiders must lose for the Galaxy to sneak into the post-season with a win against the Surge. Frankfurt earned that position by beating the Raiders last week.

But how does this situation feel for the Galaxy? Head coach Thomas Kösling took time to comment on his feelings and more.

When asked about the game against the Raiders, last year’s coach of the year said that "it was a game on the highest European level. We showed that we can beat every opponent and that we are a top team in this league. I believe that a lot of teams would be happy if we missed the playoffs.”

Although the Stuttgart Surge are standing at 0-11, the Galaxy will not take it easy: “We will have our normal preparation for the game. Stuttgart took us to triple overtime last time we played them. We have to make up for that. We want to win and give the fans a good show.”

Although missing out on the playoffs would be disappointing, there are positive takeaways for the Galaxy as well: “If we miss the playoffs, we miss our goal. We wanted to reach the playoffs. In the end we lost to Rhein Fire twice, which is tough if you beat Vienna and Tirol. In both losses we had the chance to win, that is hard to digest. But we learned from the season. It was an exciting season for us. A lot of close games, with comeback victories, overtime wins, game winning field goals for and against us. Very emotional and it does not get much better than that.”

But even if the Galaxy should miss the playoffs, Kösling thinks that they were definitely one of the strongest teams in the European League of Football: “In the end we might miss out on the playoffs, but in the “group of death” this is no shame. I still believe that Vienna, Tirol, and Frankfurt are the three best teams in the league.”
