Fehérvár Enthroners sign standout cornerback

Hungary’s best defensive back Dávid Tóth will play for the Enthroners in 2023.

The Fehérvár Enthroners landed another homerun signing. The best Hungarian cornerback will play in the European League of Football in 2023.

Return of the “turnover king”

Dávid Tóth started playing football for the Szekszárd BadBones, before joining the Fehérvár Enthroners in 2018. The 25-year-old has been a cornerstone for the Hungarian national team for many years now and proved time and time again that he is one of the best domestic football players out there. During his time with the Enthroners, Tóth won the HFL in 2019, before playing the best season in franchise history. During the 2022 campaign in which the Hungarians won the AFL Division I, the HFL and the CEFL Cup, the cornerback had an astonishing ten interceptions, two of which were returned for a touchdown. Those ten takeaways set a new franchise record and made the talented defensive back one of the top-priorities for this offseason.

“Tremendous asset to our team”

Enthroners head coach Jaime Hill is excited to have his defensive playmaker back: “He has been the most consistent player in our defensive backfield, leading our team in turnovers with 10, and 8 interceptions last season. He has a great understanding of our system and is a versatile player who can be utilized at multiple positions, a tremendous asset to our team.”

Tóth himself is happy to be back and more than ready to show that he is one of the best cornerbacks in all of Europe:

“In my last 5 years in Fehérvár, 3 HFL finals, 2 Hungarian championship titles and this year's CEFL Cup victory have already proven that I made the right decision when I moved to Fehérvár at the end of 2017. Also, the atmosphere in the locker room is great and there is a great unity, so I love playing here and it's no wonder I extended my contract with the Enthroners. Of course, the biggest challenge, "the European stage" is yet to come and I'm very excited about it! The whole team is incredibly motivated, we can't wait to finally show ourselves in Europe's top league and I'm sure we'll surprise a few teams!”
