Fehérvár Enthroners announce the signing of new quarterback – Cunningham and franchise part ways

The Fehérvár Enthroners have signed former Division I starting quarterback Jerod Evans to the 2023 roster. Just one week away from pre-season start, Enthroners make a switch at quarterback. Gabriel Cunningham, who was signed as early as last November, and the team have parted ways in early April. His replacement is a former All-American ACC and FBS ACC newcomer of the year quarterback. Evans is 29 years old, 115 kg heavy and 1,94 m tall with a special history in pro-football.
Record setting collegiate appearance
He played his first collegiate football for the United States Air Force Academy in 2013, previous of transferring to the Trinity Valley Community College following an ACL-tear. He matured, transferred again to play for Virginia Tech being named starter, leading his team to the ACC Championship game against Clemson with a record setting season.

At Virginia Tech, the signal caller had 3552 yards passing, 29 touchdowns and just eight interceptions in 14 games. After a great year, he declared for the NFL draft, joining the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent shortly after.

While not making an active NFL roster with neither the Eagles (2017) nor the Packers (2018), he went on to play for several teams like Tokyo Gas Creators, Vegas Knight Hawks or Northern Arizona Wranglers – now joining a new franchise in the European League of Football.

In Fehérvár, Evans will work with weapons like Benjamin Plu, former Dragons, or Jay Griffin IV. His first game will be against Berlin Thunder on June 3rd. Will he start the 2023 season with a bang?
