Cologne Centurions sign UK-duo in Jai Jackson and Kris Wedderburn

The Cologne Centurions secure double reinforcement from Great Britain.

With Jai-Albert Jackson and Kris Wedderburn two athletes from the United Kingdom move to the Rhine to join the Cologne Centurions.

Both athletes already played in the European League of Football. While Jackson was active forthe Surge in four games in 2021, Wedderburn drew attention to himself from the start of his Istanbul Rams' game with the Centurions. He suffered an injury shortly afterwards that kept him out for the entire season.

European League of Football experience for the Centurions

David Drane, general manager, about Jai Jackson: "Jai is a model athlete who is already in the NFL's sights. He brings optimal size and athleticism to the defense." said Cologne General Manager David Drane. "We are pleased to present him as a Centurion for 2023!" The 25-year-old also played for London Blitz and the University of Hertfordshire Hurricanes before that. Last summer, the British international played again for London Blitz and was also scouted for the CFL Global Draft.

Wedderburn already knows some teammates from his time with the Istanbul Rams this year. Chad Walrond, safety, and Zachary Blair, middle linebacker, will take the fight with the Centurions in 2023. "Kris is one of the UK's best receivers and brings good size and speed for the position,” enthuses GM Drane. "He comes to us after an injury shortened season in Istanbul and is well on his way to being top fit again. We look forward to him making some great plays for us and strengthening our wide receiver core."

On offense, the Centurions have already signed Noah Aarass, Carlos Carrasco-Sanz and Rares Gheorghiu. Zach Blair and Chad Walrond were signed on defense.
